Description
A very rare and beautiful Jaeger Le Coultre WWW, issued to the British Army in 1945.
The watch is in fair condition considering it is issued, and approaching almost 80 years of age. JLC’s have chrome topped cases and this does show some light brassing to certain areas, but overall the chrome is still present. There are no major dents or dings which is also rare. There are a few small marks commensurate with an issued watch of this age, but overall the condition is good. The dial has dark patinated hour plots, that match the cathedral hands. There is some small paint loss around some hour plots, which often happens with radium markers.
These are one of the collectors favourite from the dozen, and this one comes in a number 4 in the rarity table, with approx 6,000 pieces thought to have been produced. Only the Grana, Eterna and IWC stand in front of it.
The cal 479 movement has been serviced by one of the best in the business, Simon Freese. The watch will come with 12 months mechanical warranty from May ’23. The service ticket is included to transfer warranty. (This does not include accidental/water damage etc)
The case is 35mm and interestingly the fixed bars are 17mm, the only one of the 12 not to be 18mm.
Comes on a new olive khaki nato band as seen.
Points to consider: Rare JLC WWW with 6000 produced, original dial and case, serviced movement with warranty, new nato band.
