Some background on the brand: Buttes Watch Company (BWC) was founded in 1924 by Arthur Chalet. He names the company Buttes Watch Company after his birthplace, Buttes in the Val de Travers. First pocket watches were produced and then later came wristwatches. BWC used movements from Ebauches, including the Valjoux 23 and 72 calibers for the chronographs. After the introduction of the automatic Lemania caliber 1341 by the SSIH in 1972, BWC used it for its sports chronographs as did may other brands from the same era. BWC are highly regarded and although they seem to be one of the lesser known names the company is rich in history, and a sure bet with vintage collectors.

A watch in this condition will make a welcome addition to any serious BWC or Lemania collector.
