Description
A superb Omega 6B/159 that would have been issued to an R.A.F pilot in around 1943.
These superb little watches are rich in history and approximately 5000 are thought to have been produced. The snap on back has issued engravings that are still clearly visible. This example shows 6B/159, meaning pilot/navigator watch. The serial is A34919. Production began in 1943, so it’s highly likely that this 6B saw some action towards the end of World War 2.
Dials on 6B/159’s are frosted white, so can mark easily. Often the dials are in poor condition due to their age. There are some very small marks commensurate with an issued watch of this age, but overall the watch presents very well. The hands on these are blue steel spade style, with a sweep seconds hand. All parts are original, including the crown.
The 33mm cases are often worn, but this piece is still in good shape, the case is still in very good condition. The 18mm bars are fixed, and a new grey Nato band will be supplied.
The 30T2 movement is keeping time well, and will come with 6 months mechanical warranty from the date of sale.
Points to consider: Omega 6B pilot watch, 30T2 movement, all original, 5000 made.
