Description

A very popular Omega 6B/542 ‘Fat Arrow’.

The were issued to the British Royal Air Force in 1953, and 5900 are thought to have been produced.

They have the nick name ‘Fat Arrow’ as almost all were re-called to have their radium dials overhauled. The toxic radium was removed, and replaced with tritium. The arrow is a larger than the previous font, hence the nickname.

This watch is in very good condition. The case is still extremely sharp, and appears unpolished. There are a few small marks from wear, but these are commensurate with an issued watch of this age. The dial and hands have a great patina and all parts are original to the watch. The case back shows serial 7026, the anti-magnetic dust cover is present, as is the retainer ring.

These watches were produced for pilots and made to chronometer specification. The case is 37mm making these pieces very popular for regular wear.

The 283 movement is running well, and will have 6 months mechanical warranty from the date of sale. Comes on a new 18mm Nato band as seen.

Points to consider: Omega6B/542 pilot watch, 5900 made, superb condition, warranty.
