Description
A superb Sinn 140/42 with Lemania 5100 made to commemorate Reinhard Furrer’s D1 Challenger mission into space. The watch was marketed as the ‘First Automatic’ in space, but it has since been confirmed that Colonel Pogue was first with his trusty Seiko 6139 auto some years early. These were available from the early 1980s.
The watch is in great condition and has a lovely patina aged tritium dial and hands. The work horse Lemania 5100 is working well and all functions work as expected. The movement is unserviced by me but will come 3 months mechanical warranty for peace of mind (no water/accidental damage). Internal bezel is set by crown at 10. The caseback is still sharp showing the mission details and serial number 3510915
The case is a fair size at 43mm and appears unpolished. There are a few small marks commensurate with age but overall the condition is good. The watch comes with its original bracelet (inc 1 extra link) and signed clasp.
Sinn are very popular among chrono collectors and nice examples of 140/42 are getting harder to find.
